Having a dad that’s a CPA sure comes in handy, but there’s more to his story than just numbers.

My dad was 19 when he met my mom, Laura at the University of Southern California. He thought she was pretty terrific, but it wasn’t until he took that first trip to “meet the parents” that he knew he hit the jackpot. You see, my grandmother was a fantastic cook and even better...my grandparents owned a pie and burger shop, Carvers. Little did my dad know then that he would not only “get the girl”, but that she’d turn into a fantastic cook herself!

Only two years after my parents were married, my dad shared in my mom’s heartbreak over my Aunt Sue’s death from Hodgkin’s disease. Such sadness for a young couple, and yet it would help prepare them for so much more to come.

My dad would tell you that one of the worst days of his life was when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Oh, it’s not what you think! “I’ll never forget the look on your mom’s face when the doctor said ’ non-Hodgkin’s’. I was bringing cancer your mom’s way once again.” So typical since my dad’s motto is, “It’s not about me.”

Spring 2003, my dad went through months of grueling chemotherapy. Again his concern was for his family. In the midst of chemo, he told my mom, “I hope none of our children ever have cancer and go through this horrible treatment.”

One year later, I was sitting right next to my dad, chemo partners side by side.

My dad has encouraged my mom and I with Susansnaps, and his unwavering support has been instrumental to its success.

For the past 20+ years, my dad has put his wealth of knowledge to work for several large corporations. He now brings that same level of experience and expertise to Susansnaps.

There’s no doubt about it...my dad’s the best number cruncher ever!
